Michigan Central Station with the CN Rail Lines that feed into the Rail Tunnel under the Detroit River to Canada. - Michigan Central Station is located in the Corktown District of Detroit which is located less than a mile SW of Downtown near the Ambassador Bridge. Michigan Central Station opened in 1913 and remained in operation until 1988. The building is of the Beaux-Arts Classical style of architecture, designed by the Warren & Wetmore and Reed and Stem firms who also designed New York City's Grand Central Terminal. Michigan Central Station was added to the US Historical National Places on April 16, 1975. The Station has appeared in several movies: Transformers (2006) & The Island (2005) both directed by Michael Bay, Naqoyqatsi (2002), Four Brothers (2004), 8 Mile (2002).
