Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in my living room.

Time

I honestly do not remember what time of day I snapped the shot.

Lighting

I used the on-camera flash.

Equipment

Nikon D3100 with a Tamron 18-200 lens and on-camera fash.

Inspiration

Every year for Christmas, my Mother buys me an Amaryllis. This particular year, the flower was especially bold in color. I started shooting a few pictures so I could just send them to her showing how tall and beautiful the flowers were. I never paid attention to the interesting details of the interior part of the flower and just zoomed in as close as I could get without losing focus and snapped.

Editing

I took this pictures several years ago. If anything, I know I would have cropped the image a bit and maybe brightened it up a tad. I only use Google Picasa for editing so minimal editing/post-processing was done.

In my camera bag

Lens cleaner, cheater glasses, back-up battery, and battery charger. Sometimes extra camera chips.

Feedback

Just keep shooting! Different angles, light, etc. then delete what doesn't work after taking a moment to reflect on why it didn't work or you didn't like the image. You'll eventually get where you shoot fewer shots to get what you want. Don't forget that an image might not speak to you in color, and that post-editing it to B & W might make the image spectacular! JUST RELAX AND HAVE FUN!
