Behind The Lens

Location

This initial Photo was taken at San Jacinto Wildlife preserve in California. The Bird was actually taken at Hidden Valley Nature preserve in California.

Time

Mid Day on Both Pictures

Lighting

This photo is heavily photo shopped so the lighting at the time the photo was taken is so absorbed by effects filters that you cant tell what time of day it was. I took a daytime photo and made an evening stormy photo out of it.

Equipment

Nikon D3100 with standard stock lens AFS Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5:6G

Inspiration

The View of the mountains was pretty remarkable and I am a birder so any chance to get a bird other than a crow or seagull is always welcomed and I take advantage of that!

Editing

I used photoshop with topaz labs filters (topaz adjust & topaz lens effects) The clouds is a royalty free image I aquired from the internet. The original photo is a clear blue sky.

In my camera bag

NIKON D3200 with NIKKOR 18-55 & The NIKKOR 55-300

Feedback

If you are interested in shooting nature then I would recommend early morning shoots or early evening. This is when you will have the best lighting and all of the great creatures will be out and about during these hours as well.
