This photo was taken in my home studio, in Portsmouth, UK.Time
The photo was taken at around 6 pm. There was enough natural light as it was summer, but I still had to use flash in order to achieve the outcome that I was going for.Lighting
This photo is mostly about lighting. High key photography is a thing that I never tried before and I always wanted to check it out. When I had the chance, I didn't let it go away. I setup my tripod and placed my camera on it. Then I placed carefully two flashguns next to my model, one 90 degrees to her left and one 90 degrees to her right. The two flashguns were placed higher than my model. I changed their settings and made sure that they were powerful enough to intrude into my model without destroying the whole image.Equipment
I have used my Canon 550D, with my 10-22 mm lens (as I didn't have enough space and had to be really close to the model). I have also used a tripod and two Yongnuo flash guns.Inspiration
I love experimenting. Whenever I feel like I want to do a photoshoot at home, I check online for any techniques that I haven't tried yet. High key photography always grabbed my attention, so I decided to try it.Editing
This is a two part photo. First of all I setup my tripod and took a plain photo of the wall. Then the second photo was with my model sitting on a chair. I used photoshop and placed one photo above the other. Then I used the eraser tool to carefully erase the chair and expose the white wall. I have also made some slight changes to the brightness to make the white stand out. Then I reduced the vibrance a bit, increased the clarity a bit and finally added some vignetting.In my camera bag
It always depends on what I'm going for. Most of the times I carry my 18-55 mm lens along with my 10-22mm wide angle lens as I love taking landscapes etc.Feedback
Make sure you have two flashguns for start. Set up your studio and your your flashguns and change their settings to confirm that they are powerful enough. Take a photo of the background first alone and then insert your model in your second shot. It's not very difficult. Have fun with it, be creative and experiment.
