Oregon The Beautiful: Crater Lake - here is another clean shot of Crater Lake from Sun Notch - The Wizard Island formed from a cinder cone that erupted after Crater Lake began to fill with water, and the smaller Phantom Ship has seven different trees living on it. There are also colonies of violet green swallows and several varieties of wildflowers and lichens living there. The violet green is seen between right side of Phantom Island and the pointed edge of the crater. Also if you see the surrounding crater you can see the volcanic ash, rocks and burnt trees - but nothing can beat the deep blue water mostly still but you can see waves formed with slight wind (Enlarge this photo to see nice details) - taken on 8-28-2014
