This photo was taken at an exhibit inside the Charleston Aquarium in Charleston, SC.Time

The exhibit was inside the aquarium and was well lit.Equipment
I used a Canon 60D with a 55-250mm telephoto. No flash, no tripod, ISO 2500, f/5.6 and shutter speed of 1/320.Inspiration
The aquarium rescued the eagle (it is injured and cannot fly) from Naples, FL. It was the first time I had seen a bald eagle this close and I was stunned by her size and "majesty." Her name is Liberty.Editing
Yes, but not a lot of post-processing. The photo was taken in color, and I increased the contrast, sharpened the feathers and eye, darkened the background, reduced the exposure a bit and converted it to black and white.In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 60D, a Canonet 35mm (or a Rollei35S if it is working) and, if I feel up to it, a Mamiya RZ67. I have also used all the Canon DSLR's and a Nikon D810, but have not yet pulled the trigger on an upgrade. As far as lenses, I always carry a Canon 55mm macro, Canon 100mm f/2 and either the Canon 10-22mm wide angle or Canon 100-400L.Feedback
Always have a camera with you and don't be afraid to use it when you encounter something special. I also like to physically get as close as possible to my subject (and I was lucky with this picture as Liberty was kept in an area very close to the public) and focus in close to get the sharpest image. And have fun!
