Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken along side of the Thames in England.

Time

It was mid-afternoon on a very foggy day.

Lighting

We were enjoying a walk along the Thames on our way to visit the Tower Bridge Exhibit. The fog was so heavy that for most of the afternoon we could not see across. I leaned against the wall, watching the kids fight with wooden swords while enjoying the mystery and eeriness of the place. Then, slowly, the fog lifted a bit to unveil this scene. The fog came back down and deprived us of any good views while visit the exhibit.

Equipment

At that time, I was carrying a Panasonic DMC-TZ2, set on landscape and 100 ISO, no flash, no tripod.

Inspiration

It wasn't hard to be inspired at the time. The weather in England is forever changing, giving us many opportunities that we may not even dare to wish. This particular moment is just one of many examples.

Editing

Since I was using a point-and-shoot camera, shooting jpeg, the post-processing is minimal.

In my camera bag

When I visit a country with the family, I carry a point-and-shoot camera as it light weight and fits in my pocket. When I travel alone or for business, I carry my Nikon D800 with my trusty 24-700mm, 50mm, 80-400mm, my tripod and my neutral density filters.

Feedback

My advice would be patience. Weather in the UK is forever changing and can be truly spectacular.
