Location
The photo was taken at the Tower of London a few weeks before remembrance day.Time
It was around late morning when I manage to take the shot. As you can see when you look close the shadows are quite sort.Lighting
The sunlight glow was an added filter I wanted to give the photo a sort of heavenly peaceful look.Equipment
My camera at the time was my older Sony A55 with a my even older Minolta 100- 300mm XI lens I bought over 20 years ago.Inspiration
I wanted to document the art installation around the tower but I didn't just want to take the standard shots that many people had. I saw this bare mound that stood out to me. It kind of suggested the struggle many men and women had during those dark times.Editing
There was a bit of post processing done but this was planed when I was the shot. To start there was a bit of cropping. The next stage was to add a little more depth of field to make to mount stand out even more, and finally I add the sun flare.In my camera bag
I usually carry round my two main camera bodies Sony A77 and A55. Plus a few lenses for different situations these consist of Tamaron 11-18mm, Sony 16-50mm, Sony 50mm 1.8f prime, Sigma 90mm macro prime and Minolta 100-300mm XI. I find that this give me range for most situations.Feedback
I would say try to look at things in a different way to most people. I have seen many photos of the same subject but the all look samey. I also nearly always shoot in RAW an slightly under expose the shot so I don't loose details in the bright areas. The RAW format will allow you to correct this in post processing.
