Location
It has been taken in North Lebanon, Akkar, in a small village called Tachea. In fact, it is the village my wife is from.Time
I remember it was at noon, maybe between 12 and 1 pm.Lighting
I was happy the place had no a direct sunlight at that moment. The shade was perfect to take the photo. The indirect light coming on the scene was exactly what I needed to capture that photo.Equipment
My old usual kit, the D5000 with a 18-55mm VR lens. No flash nor tripod were used.Inspiration
In fact this old woman is my uncle's "uncle's wife". He loves her and respects her too much, so he asked me to take her a special photo in front of that old door. Of course I didn't let him down. We wanted to take the photo in front of that door, because a couple of months before I took a photo for the same door at the same time of the day, and I printed it and put it in the living room, and people liked it. My experience with those 2 photos tells me that a photographer can take multiple photos for same elements and can still have successful photos.Editing
Yes, of course. I remember the photo was taken colored. When I opened it first on my laptop I decided immediately to turn it to black and white. I made some contrast and levels changes in order to get more details specially the texture of the old door and the stones. In my camera bag
The camera, a nikon 50mm fixed lens, a cheap extension tube, a remote control, a flash and a memory card adapter (I use for urgency to put my mobile sd card in the camera in case the mini sd card is full)Feedback
First and this is a general advise, you do not have to pay for an expensive kit to make a successful photos. Second, to take such photo, choose a sunny day, but keep in the shadow. The sun will give you the light you need even if it is not a direct light.
