Very nice photo. I love how my eye is taken in many directions, but each direction holds its own.

Location
This photo was taken at Lassen Volcanic National Park.Time
I had brought my family to the mountains since being from Texas this would be the first time my two younger kids would experience snow. A few snow angels and tossing of snowballs I took to the trails with my oldest daughter around Manzanita Lake. It was late in the afternoon and I was anxious to find a great angle in which to photograph Chaos Crags in the background reflecting off of the lake. I shot several photos along the way, but then, as I kept walking the edge I stumbled upon this view. It was perfect. Not only did I have the reflection of Chaos Crags but I also had what lie beneath Manzanita Lake.Lighting
Since this photo was taken in the late afternoon there was no additional light used.Equipment
This photo was shot handheld with a Nikon D90 on a Nikon 18.0-200.0 mm f/3.5-5.6Inspiration
I had never seen a lake so still in the middle of the day. It was as if all the stars aligned and presented me with this view. A gorgeous background reflecting in the water and an enchanting foreground of what lie at the bottom of the lake.Editing
There was some post processing done to the final version; a slight crop, color adjustments and removal of a sun glare that had snuck it's way into the top of the photo. In my camera bag
As this was taken in late of 2012 I have since upgraded to a Nikon D600. my go to lenses right now are my Sigma 70-200mm 1:2.8 APO DG HSM and NIKKOR 50mm 1:1.8 DFeedback
When I started getting into photography I was once told by an older gentleman: "Here let me get out of the way so you can get the shot that everyone else has taken." I ignored him. What a rude comment to make, but the more I thought about it the easier it was to come to my conclusion: I will. I'm sure that there are several shots of this same lake and same mountain, but none of them look like this. My advise: get out there and shoot, don't be afraid to explore and if someone says it's been done before.....go that extra mile and say, "Not like this!"
