Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in my trip to Gir jungle, Gujarat, India. It is the only sanctuary in Asia where we can find wild lions.Time
It was about 10 in the morning. It was month of Feburary and was a nice warm day with good sunlight and clear sky.Lighting
It was mild morning sun and sun light matched nicely with the yellow color of the lion making them even more majestic. It seemed that they had a busy night hunting and were lying out lazily in the sun. The combination of the two lions yawning together makes it more interesting. I think yawning is indeed infectious!!Equipment
I used a canon powershot sx 50hs camera. it was handheld and was taken from a tourist vehicle in the jungle with natural light.Inspiration
The subject "lion" itself is so majestic a animal to inspire for the photograph. Fortunately there were 2 lions and in mode of Yawning together which made the moment interesting. Probably once in a lifetime event. It inspires me to visit the jungle again!Editing
Actually very little of post processing has been done. The photo is a straight out from the camera except for mild cropping. In my camera bag
Presently I have a Pentax K 30 dslr with 18-135mm and 55-300 hd weather resistant lens with me. Planing to buy a macro and a 50mm prime lens soon.Feedback
The sight of such a majestic animal even from the safety of the vehicle creats a overwhelming excitement. It is necessary to be composed and calm to get the required shot. The animals may give us just a fraction of a second for the required pose and we need to capture it. "Be composed for good compose"!!
