I took this photo in a cute little park in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. It was a challenge to keep the run down parts out of the photo but overall a really wonderful area for pictures.Time
This photo was taken in the evening right as the sun was setting. Because we were kind of in a whole I was to get that sunset without a bunch of background stuff.Lighting
I had just started experimenting with lighting and really found my passion for sunsets and using natural light to really add to the feeling behind the image. I felt that the sun really provided most of the awesomeness for this photo!Equipment
I believe I used an old HD camcorder that I had at the time that just so happened to take pictures. It wasn't a very good resolution camera for photos and they tended to be grainy but it still provided some pretty good shots.Inspiration
I was taking photos for a young couple and they were all smiles. With the way the sun was shining behind them it reminded me of the famous starboard scene on the Titanic so I had them hold their hands out like they did in the movie.Editing
It's been so long since I took this photo, but I think I used an old in browser application calling Picnik. In my camera bag
For my new equipment I have my Mirror-less Panasonic Lumix, 2 extra batteries and 2 more SD cards.Feedback
If you want to capture a similar picture start researching sunset times and figure what points in the sunset you like better. Do you want the sun to be clean and clear with no odd tints, and the ability to have your subject in view with plenty of light then plan for earlier in the sunset. If you want to pull off a more romantic vibe, use a reflector and catch the sun in it's "red stage" with the sky is a wonderful pink hue. Wanting the subject completely black with the sun in the background, forgo the reflector. Always be familiar with your background. Sunsets are beautiful, but a mound of trash can really kill the vibe. Lastly, make sure you can easily tell which is the main focus, the subject, the sun or the story?
