Location
I was camping by lake Huron in northern Michigan with the intention of viewing a meteor shower that night.Time
It was mid afternoon and nature decided it was a good time to water the grass with about an hours worth of downpour.Lighting
I just used what light nature provided. The rain shower had just passed and it was still quite cloudy so it was a soft diffused light.Equipment
I used my canon T3i and if I my memory is not failing me I used my canon 50mm lens.Inspiration
I love taking macro photos so I try to find small things to shoot. After the rain passed and I was able to get the camera out safely I walked around the campsite looking for different shots. I took about 30 pics of various water drops on this pine tree and I ended up with about 6 or 7 that I liked but this one was my favorite one. It's now proudly displayed on my living room wall!Editing
I guess I'm kind of a purist about photography. I don't like to change too much from the natural image. With this particular photo, the only post work I did was to crop it a few times. In my camera bag
My camera is the aforementioned Canon T3i. I have the Canon 50mm, 18-75mm and 75-300mm lenses and a Tamron 80mm macro lens, Canon speed light external flash with various defusers. Also 3 extra batteries. Don't leave home with out them!!Feedback
I've found that with the dslr you're able to take as many pictures as you want or need to to get the shot you like. Don't be shy about using that shutter button!! If you take 100 pictures and only like 3 of them, delete the rest and it didn't cost you anything unlike a film camera would. Since I'm into Marco photos, I always try to look small and see the things we don't normally see. There's a whole little world all around us but sometimes you need to look really close or even lay on the ground to see it.
