Behind The Lens

Location

that photo taken at my home, in Jerusalem, with my cats, when my wife give the cats food, it always very excited. one day i get the idea to take photos of that crazy cats get the food. I lay down on the floor, and tried to be silence as much i can. so i get amazing series of that photo

Time

it was evening, it's time to feed the cats, the camera on the table, with full battery, and i start to looking what i can do now. i have camera, but i don't want to go out side because the hour. i start thinking what can be good subject in my home. as photographer - everything is can be a subject. you just need to See subjects when people didn't see anything special. as a man with cats - you always find funny opportunities to take a picture.

Lighting

as i said, I lay down on the floor, it was really hard to get good lighting. when i noticed the cat on the White background (my fridge actually) i realized that i have chance to use it. you always can do amazing thing with "normal" background or lighting. just need not to try make it how you want, fix the lighting and the area. you need use in what you get and how is it now and look for what you can do with it.

Equipment

Camera: Canon EOS 1100D External flash (on, fired) EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II aperture Æ’/5.0 focal length 39.0 mm exposure time 1/60 ISO 800

Inspiration

it was a simple moment, we did it a lot, and i never saw how is funny and beautiful. it make me think about all the moments we lost because it "simple moment" for us. for good picture you don't need to looking for beautiful sunrise, you can open a window and look at your neighborhood or your street. take a picture of that old man who sitting there everyday and read paper news. a lot of people saw the old man, you can just see what special, and share it with camera.

Editing

no, that picture didn't processed. Basically i don't like work on my pictures. when i take photo with Defects, i think it part of the picture, part of the all the view.

In my camera bag

i'm not a pro. all my equipment is my camera and the 18-55 lens. additionally, when i going to take pictures, i take one 70-300 lens and the external flash from my dad who share the hobby with me

Feedback

with cat the best advice is simple: always keep you camera near. never try to "make" the cat what to do. cats are noise-sensitive. Be the quietest possible ( unless you want the cat looking for the camera, then, you need make noise at the exactly moment you want ) let it do what it do normally. you can't get the perfect result with cats. it never do what you asking. so you Must to learn to take the moment you have now, not the moment you want.
