Pointe Aux Barques Light located at the top of the thumb in Michigan on Lake Huron. The surrounding waters are among the most dangerous on the Great Lakes with many shoals and shallow water. Pointe Aux Barques Light is one of 10 oldest Lighthouses in the State of Michigan. Construction began in 1848 and was first lit in 1857, then automated in 1958. This Light remains an active aid to navigation and still maintained by the USCG.
