Behind The Lens

Location

Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia is one of my favorite beaches for photography.

Time

Just on Sunset as the sun is about to dip behind the Gold Coast Hinterland.

Lighting

It's always handy to have some clouds about to help colors pop

Equipment

I'd guess it was my trusty go to setup of the Canon 600D and the Tokina 11-16mm. Tripod was a Manfrotto that has taken so much abuse in salt water. Filters back this time would have been HiTech Grad ND's. Remote Trigger for no camera shake.

Inspiration

I love the beach, I love to capture movement in long exposures, be it cloud or water.

Editing

Single image, I tend to expose slightly to the right(depending on strength of sun/how muck highlights I'll blow). Mainly a Lightroom edit, ND filter dwon from top to take the exposure down a touch, bit of clarity.

In my camera bag

Camera, glass selection is Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8, Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Canon 400mm f/5.6, Couple of Yongnuo Flash units and triggers. Bottle of water and snacks to chew on while out and about.

Feedback

always bury your tripod legs in the sand to help no movement from the waves plus always keep and eye out for a rouge wave. You'll find me standing in water up to my knees when the waves roll in so wash your tripod once leaving the beach, once at home in the shower. You might notice that is says don't submerge tripod in water on the box. Rules are meant to be broken.
