Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Sloughan Glen which is about 8 mile from where I live. The Location is now closed to the public because of falling rock.

Time

The Photo was taken around 3pm and was my first experiment with slow shutter speed photography.

Lighting

This was my first visit to Sloughan Glen. Even though it was a bright sunny day outside the Glen, it was overgrown and quite dark inside so I didn’t need to use any filters.

Equipment

I set my camera on a tripod and experimented with the exposure. Being a beginning photographer I had done some research before heading out so my first exposures were not far off the mark.

Inspiration

As a beginning photographer I was keen to explore all types of photography. I wanted to try using slow shutter speed photography and always liked dreamy water images. I had often heard about Sloughan Glenso I thought it would be the ideal location.

Editing

I enhanced the photograph by increasing the saturation and contrast.

In my camera bag

I usually carry the kit lens, a telephoto lens and a macro lens along with some filters, a tripod and a remote trigger.

Feedback

Do a bit of research about the location before you visit it. If it’s likely to be dark and eerie, take someone else with you. I wish I had. Fortunately I got the exposure I wanted quite quickly. If you don’t, be patient as the result will be worthwhile.
