Location
This photo was taken at the Saline County Regional Airport, located in Bryant Arkansas. One of the best views in my local area for catching the incoming and exiting of spectacular storms.Time
Living in Arkansas there are plenty of opportunities to capture great images, but this one in particular was taken during my lunch break. I had left for lunch around 12:30 in the afternoon and went straight to the Airport. I passed up lunch for the approaching storms. This photo was probably around 12:45. I watched the storm roll in until time to go back to work. Every opportunity to catch a great storm is well worth the lost meal.Lighting
Nothing better than natural daylight for this photo. Mid afternoon, on a cloudy, stormy day is a great opportunity for great photos. Daylight is best, in my opinion. Use it anytime you can. As you can see in the photo the sun is trying to peak through the thick, dark clouds.Equipment
Always shoot my shots with a Canon, this one was the T3i by Canon. My lens was an 18-55 mm Canon lens. No tripod, no filters, etc.. Just a plain lucky shot.Inspiration
I have long been a fan of the rolling Mammatus clouds. Here in Arkansas there are many opportunities to get shots. My inspiration is the weather forecast. If storms are on the way, my camera is not far away.Editing
No post editing used. What you see is what I seen that day.In my camera bag
I normally travel with what I refer to as my storm camera kit. It includes; multiple Canon lenses, lens cleaner and cloths, always carry Q-Tips, great for a rainy or sweaty day, extra battery packs, memory cards, a Sony HD Camcorder for those more intense times, granola bars and an emergency cell phone quick charger. I try and be prepared for various situations while out shooting.Feedback
Mammatus clouds are always fun to shoot, in my opinion, they offer deep, rich colors, varying sizes and shapes, they're just all around cool. Shooting Mammatus clouds is pretty easy if you use the AUTO setting of your camera, I prefer the manual mode to have control of the shutter speed, aperture and ISO. Setting for lighting conditions before shooting is also a good idea. Shoot more Mammatus everyone, lets see your clouds.
