Behind The Lens
Location
This is outside at a small park, under the gentle sun. You could see the patch of grass through the eye, although other colors (of the iris) distort the image.Time
This was probably around early afternoon during summer. Maybe towards the end of summer? The sun wasn't really hot to the point of discomfort...Lighting
If I remember correctly, there was a small patch of shade. And this shot was taken under it, with not-so intense natural sunlight around us. So, natural lighting.Equipment
Shot on Canon EOS Kiss X50 (Japan model) with the Canon macro lens EF 100mm 1:2:8 L IS USM. Nothing else!Inspiration
This was around the time I started macro photography. Anything with interesting detail is what I liked, so I thought about capturing the iris!Editing
The macro lens did a fantastic job with the detail. I have increased the colors blue and yellow/green to have the reflection of the real world be more apparent. This may have been edited on iPhoto. So it was nothing very complicated like the Adobe Photoshop. In my camera bag
There is usually the kit-lens which came with the camera and the macro lens 100mm. The kit-lens ~55mm is great for pretty good for many subjects. I carry around the macro as well because I often see flowers, bugs, animals, birds, or anything that would be interesting to see in the macro world.Feedback
Maybe have a tripod! At the time I never owned one so I had difficulties with focusing on the iris. My arms were not shaky but small movements on the macroscopic level can be a big sway in the viewfinder. You don't need a tripod but it may help. Also think about the angle and what part of the face you want to include?
