Location
This photo was taken at the Eden project, in Cornwall. I enjoy wildlife and landscape photography, this was a great opportunity to play with plant life.Time
This was my second day at the project, the previous day had been great but high humidity levels had caused me difficulties.... I'd seen this group of flowers and spent a while with them in brilliant sunshine, around 2pm.Lighting
I particularly wanted bright but not glaring light, which worked nicely.Equipment
I used my cannon eos 700, with a macro/ wide angle lense. No tripod but a very convenient hand rail to balance on for steadyness!Inspiration
The really vivid colours and spiky outline made this flower really interesting to me.Editing
None at all, not even cropped as able to frame the flower at time of taking (a great advantage over my usual wildlife, it didn't run away!).In my camera bag
I have the cannon eos, with a macro/wide angle lense, plus a 70-300 ml lense. I also take my older fuigi bridge. Lense cloths, a micro fibre towel and super absorbant swimmers towel for very wet conditions. I also have fingerless gloves and a wooly hat - too long living in Scotland!Feedback
Research the area you're going to, for prior knowledge of conditions. This was taken undercover, much easier in some ways but I did have to allow time to acclimatise my camera to the humidity levels.
