Location
This picture was taken on location. I only had my mobile light setup with me. A dog trainer had seen my studiowork and asked me if I was interested in shooting some dogs she had in training. This image was made in a big barn at a farmTime
As I remember the image was made in the late afternoonLighting
I had to use my Bowens Travellers, a dark background, and also used some black light blockers to block the incoming sunlightEquipment
As always this was shot with a Nikon camera, my workhorses for many years now. I think, in that time it was either my D700 or my D300. Light setup existed of Bowens Travellers 3Gh, wireless triggered. Furthermore I normally use either a 50mm 1.4 or 60mm or 85mm Nikon prime lenses for shooting animals.Inspiration
Using light to let the personality of a dog come alive in a picture is always my starting point.Editing
Very simple, dustremoval and darkening the backgroundIn my camera bag
Always 3 Nikon bodies 2 D700 and 1 D300. My Nikon primelenses 35mm, 50mm, 60mm, 85mm and 105mm. Always a sekonic lightmeter and a complete set of flashtriggers and receiversFeedback
Take your time... You don't want a picture of a dog. You want to show the personality of an animal.
