Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a bar in Barcelona, one the most cosmopolitan cities facing the Mediterranean sea.

Time

I have been several time in this place. I always thought there was something special about this staircase. I was not sure what, though, until I had a coffee at a table facing in front of the stairs, on a afternoon of a sunny Autumn day.

Lighting

The main light source was a window on the side of the stairs. It was Autumn and afternoon. The light was soft and felt quite even on the subject.

Equipment

I heard many time saying that "the best camera is the one you have with you". When I took this photo, I had not my camera with me, but I have my mobile phone, a Nexus 4, which I used to capture the image.

Inspiration

I like architecture. The geometric figures and pattern generating from this scene captured my attention as soon as I saw them.

Editing

I like the geometric figures drawn by nature and, especially, found in architecture. In this image I like the angular patterns and the diagonal lines.

In my camera bag

I like to travel light, so usually I just take my Canon G1-X.

Feedback

Being patience when taking a shot is one of the best advices I had. I have been several times in this place before taking the shot. I always found this scene interesting, but I did not realize what I most liked in it, until it was led by an even light, that allowed all the elements in it to gain an equal importance.
