I took the sky background shot in Seattle from the pikes place market viewTime
It was taken midday, sunny with clouds. The sun was peeking through a small hole , casting its rays onto the water. It looked like a portal to heaven.Lighting
As the sun peeked through the clouds and the rays touched the water, I thought it looked like a portal to heaven. I knew I could do something special with the shot.Equipment
I shot the background with a Cannon rebel T3i, auto landscape setting, just free handed.Inspiration
The way the rays shone through the clouds and and down to the water just looked heavenly.Editing
I used Photoshop cs6 to do editing . first I enhanced colors, then I found images of an angel with fire wings and cut the wings out, next I found a picture of a firefighter running into battle, and finally a picture of a staircase. I put all the images together and gave it a warm filter. Just simple editing, but it came out amazing. One of my proudest pieces. In my camera bag
I usually pack light if I'm not planning a photoshoot, ie. most of the time. I only carry my basic lense and my zoom 75-300mm. I like to shoot on the fly, because I find it more challenging and the spontinaity gives me shots I might not have gotten if I planned it. I find it forces me to react to my environment quickly scouting an interesting shot that catches my eye. Honestly I can't go anywhere now without seeing my surroundings as if through a lenses. Its amazing, the small things we miss when we don't look around.Feedback
Being it was not planned, I'd say just go with your imagination and capture what catches your eye, because you never know what it may inspire you to create.
