Location
This was taken at the front garden of the house.Time
I took this photo at around noon where it was a bit overcast with a bit of shade and humid.Lighting
If there is natural light, i always make use of that. An external flash would also be useful as fill-in light in cases where light in the area is dim (e.g. a model standing under the shade of a tree.) whether using natural or artificial light, the principles are always the same. A diffuser would also help in softening the harsh quality of sunlight , as well as controlling where you need the light to fall.Equipment
Canon EOS 60D, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8, and Canon Speedlite 430EX II, DiffuserInspiration
The baby in this photo is my god-daughter which makes this shot inspiring and extra special to me. Through this photo(s), I wanted to preserve her innocence, sweetness, and cuteness so that in the years to come, she will have a memento of her babyhood.Editing
I used CS 6 and did some sharpenning, enhancing using levels, curves, color balance, vibrance, and brush. In my camera bag
In my bag, I have the Canon 60D, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8, Canon 18-200m f/3.5, Canon Speedlite 430EX II, Diffuser, Lee filters, and remote control.Feedback
In baby photoshoots, the baby should be comfortable and relaxed (if not sleeping). Since babies have quite delicate skin, make sure that they are wrapped well before and after each take. You can enlist the help of the parents to uncover the baby before the take. As soon as they do, take as many shots as you can in a minute as the baby might be disturbed or gets agitated by all that light. Set the drive to continuous so you can take multiple shots in one go. We believe that less is more, so we use minimal props. To get that natural result, we set the shooting outdoors and used natural lights, with the external flash used as fill-in lights.
