Behind The Lens

Location

This photograph was taken in Pyeongtaek, South Korea

Time

Was taken at about 3pm

Lighting

Photograph was taken in a studio using a single Alien Bee 800 with a softbox about 4 inches away from the model.

Equipment

Nikon D3200, 18-55mm kit lens, and 1 Alien Bee 800 off camera strobe with softbox

Inspiration

I always wanted to shoot an older asian female. So when the opportunity presented itself I jumped all over it. This is still my favorite photograph from that session.

Editing

I did very minimal post-processing. I converted the photo to black and white in Adobe Lightroom and slightly increased the contrast slider.

In my camera bag

Currently I have a Nikon D40 converted to shoot in only infared, a Nikon D5200, Tameron 15-55mm 3.5 lens, Nikon 50mm 2.1 prime lens, Nikon 85mm 2.1 prime lens, Nikon 55-200mm 3.5 lens, Nikon 18-55mm 3.5 lens, Nikon Speed light, Aroura lightbox for speedlights, Reflector, Monopole, Tripod, remote, polarizing filters, and adjustable neutral density filter. Then various sync cables, spare batteries, chargers, and cleaners.

Feedback

Positioning the light closer to the subject will create a harsher light fall off on the subject.
