Behind The Lens

Location

Newport, OR

Time

Late morning

Lighting

The sun through the fog created a unique depth of field. It looks as if the bridge disappears.

Equipment

I used my Olympus E510 DSLR. Aperture f/8.0, ISO:100, shutter speed 1/60

Inspiration

My mom and I were on a road trip and we came around the corner and there was this great opportunity. Mother nature created it and I just had to capture it.

Editing

I did enhance the color of the bridge for more contrast. The fog and the natural lighting created the blue green tint naturally.

In my camera bag

I have two cameras in my bag. I have a Fuji and my Olympus. I also use my phone camera when my others are at home. I once heard that the best camera to use is the one you have with you. It's a great statement.

Feedback

I would say that nature provides wonderful moments to capture and when your eye catches something of interest stop and capture it. I've had those moments and passed them by and now I regret not stopping for a few minutes to take the shot. Landscape photography is a unique choice because what we capture will not be repeated again. That's what makes it so fascinating. The best times are early morning or the golden hour in the evening but mid-day can be just as much fun if not challenging to get just the right setting for the situation.
