My wife and I decided to to take a trip up the west coast of Michigan. Our goal was to take a picture of every lighthouse on the Lake Michigan side. We were inspired by the beauty of each light house with the background of the lake and also the stories about each lighthouse. It wasn't an easy job to be a lighthouse keeper.Editing
I did all the usual adjustments in Adobe Lightroom. I used Topaz Labs Adjust 5 to adjust the colors and and give it an over all feel. I used Photoshop to light the lighthouses. In my camera bag
I of course carry my Nikon D7100 everywhere I go. I usually have my Nikkor 10 - 200 zoom attached as my go to lens. I carry a flash unit and a couple lenses. I love my big Sigma 70 - 500 zoom for wildlife. I also carry a 35 mm fixed lens. I also carry misc. filters including ND filters.Feedback
My advice is to decide what you are interested in photographing. Get on line and do some research. Determine what kind of lighting you are looking for and get there early and do some test shots. Try to find the best angles and composition of your subject. Experiment with your settings. I like to shoot many shots to get the exact look I want. I shoot some in apeture priority, some in shutter priority but mostly I shoot in manual. Once you figure out your settings you have it knocked. Have fun. That's the most important thing. I love photography. I take my camera with me everywhere I go.
