Red-naped Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus nuchalis) is in the woodpecker family. They do not suck sap, but instead they sip it. Their tongue, shorter than other woodpeckers, has small hair-like projections on the tip that help pick up the sap. I was surprised at how close I was able to get to this one.
