Location
I took this photo at downtown in Dnipropetrovsk city, Ukraine, near the carousel.Time
It was dark winter day with first snow, I was planning to shoot some snowy images, but when my model and I came to downtown, snow almost melt, and it was just a nasty dull cloudy morning. I wanted to shoot something bright, so I chose carousel lights as background, I said to model to imagine, if you come to the magician, and he said, Make a Wish.Lighting
I used natural light, at the backsidethere was building, so we had some direction of light.Equipment
This was shot on Canon 1000D, lens Canon 85mm/1.8, and I used tripod, because of luck of light, so I could use long exposure.Inspiration
It was a winter, and I wanted to shoot something with christmas lights, something wich would have some christmas spirit inside.Editing
I did some clean up skin for face and added brights and contrast all over the image, overall it didn't need too much processing. In my camera bag
As portrait photographer I use long lens 85mm and as stock photographer, which demands much quality for each image - always use fix lenses, because they give sharp and clean picture. Also I have 50mm and 35mm for wider and group scenes. At sunny days I use UF filter, it also helps to add some darkness, so I can use wider aperture to blur background.Feedback
There are tree crucial things, - first it is working with model, you have to speak with her, have some contact, and make her feel emotions, wich you want to have on photo, ask to remember something, or make a wish, or ask about her dream, second thing it is light, it doesn't matter you use studio or natural light, you should notice where is your main light, where is the shadow, and ask model to turn until the light will show her beauty in the best way, and third thing it is background, you can move you camera a bit, and change the backround dramaticaly, use light if there are some light in the background.
