It was late afternoon, after 5 pm. A long tiring day at work was suddenly forgotten as a deer jumped out of the timber on the side of the right-of-way and on her heels was this beautiful fawn. Their colors were sharp in the tree-filtered light of the setting sun and as my husband got the truck stopped I was already shooting. Then they stopped for a split second and that ever elusive shot was captured for all to enjoy.Lighting
Different lights produce different moods and clarity. What do you want to say to the viewer with the light? Learn to use it to create moods.Equipment
I use a Canon 7D, with a 100-400 lense. This shot was hand held, but I do use a tripod for the moon, stars etc. A flash indoors or even at night when shooting spiders. I carry with me at all times, within arms length. I also use a 6D, a 7D Mark II, a 70-200 lense, a 35-70 lense and a 100 Macro lense.Inspiration
Just the instantenous beauty was breathtaking.Editing
Normally about all I do is crop. Sometimes I will straighten or check the fill light, I play with the color contrasts, but not with every picture. I always sign and copyright. Some of my sports shots are processed in editing. In my camera bag
Batteries, batteries, batteries and cleaning materials. Different lenses.Feedback
You must be alert for movements and light. There is rarely a 2nd chance in shooting wildlife. Keep your ISO set for the light in order to control your fstop and speed. Check it often.
