Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Australia Zoo, QLD, Australia almost 4 years ago. I took my daughter to give her a break from chemo treatments. We had to travel 1400km from our home every 3 months for major checkups and she was getting very upset by these trips, so we needed to do something fun. I loved seeing a baby and his Dad during a loving moment. As a self taught photographer I always live to see a good photo and learn what I could improve.

Time

I don’t know the exact time as we were walking around Australia zoo for the entire day. I am just so happy I was there at the right time to capture the moment,

Lighting

Lighting wasn’t an issue as we were outdoors and it was a beautiful clear day with no trees casting shadows.

Equipment

Canon 700D, Tamron 17-50mm lens, no flash, no other equipment.

Inspiration

Other than landscapes, animals are my favourite subjects to shoot so I had a ball walking around the zoo. There was no inspiration behind this pic, I love the majesty of Giraffe’s and I was just in the right spot at the right time when they were out for a feeding and having a moment together as a family.

Editing

I did some slight colour highlights from RAW file in LR.

In my camera bag

Extra battery, lens cleaner, memory cards, my orb and extra lenses.

Feedback

I don’t ever think too much about a shot (unless I am using my orb), I like a natural unscripted shot as I feel you get the best view when everyone is relaxed and doing their own thing.
