This photo was taken in South Africa at the Kruger National ParkTime
It was around 4:30 in the afternoonLighting
This beautiful leopard was fixated on a gazelle that was drinking on the other side of the pond. I could almost see his brains going "how in the world i am going to get to the other side of this pond and eat that gazelle? At the same time, the gazelle was going "lalalala, you can't get me!"Equipment
I have my Nikon D60 with a 400 mm zoom lens. not tripod as i was sitting in the safety of our vehicle. I lost many pictures of this set and got a few sharp like this one.Inspiration
The scene was perfect, the leopard was sitting on a dome just leveled with my eyes. It couldn't care less about us, as he was really interested in lunch at the other side of the pond. the sequence shows it sneak walking towards the gazelle, but it springs miles before it was in any danger. it was a beautiful scene.Editing
Yes, i post processed in LR by adding a little contrast and sharpening a bit more.In my camera bag
Now i have a Nikon D700 with three lenses: a wide 2.8 14-24, the normal is a 2.8 24-70 and the 84.5 80-400Feedback
i took about 300 + pictures in that park to come out with 1 that i liked. Patience is key; some scenes look great but due to my lack of skills, i had difficulties transposing the beauty to the sensor. So, learn your equipment well, read a lot about photographer's blogs - these have awesome tips to share! And practice, practice, practice. Don't get frustrated with failures (i had to learn this one the hard way...).
