Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while visiting the Audubon zoo in New Orleans, Louisiana for my birthday. My fiance surprised me with a trip to New Orleans for my birthday and he knows how much I love animals and photography. So we went to the zoo and took photos of all the animals as we explored the exhibits.

Time

I took this picture towards the end of our day at the zoo. This snake was one of the last snakes in the exhibit and the green really popped in the dark exhibit so I just had to get a picture of the green reptile all culled up on a log with a spot light on him.

Lighting

The snake was laying on a branch that just happened to be the brightest lite part of his exhibit. So the lighting gives it the feel of a spot light.

Equipment

I actually ended up shooting this photo on my Apple iphone 5s the aperture was f/2.2 and the shutter speed was 1/30. The snaked popped naturally on the camera and its bright green scales capture your eye right away.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the way the snake was naturally in the spotlight and the vibrant color of this snake versus the other snakes in the exhibit. This snake seemed so special compared to the brown and black snakes in the exhibit that I had to get a photo of it.

Editing

This photo naturally came out amazing so their was no need to do any photo editing to it.

In my camera bag

Normally I have a Canon TI Rebel 3 in my bag and a small tripod but when I went to the zoo since it was a surprise it was just me and my Iphone 5S at the time. With all the new technology on the market my Iphone shoots almost the same quality as my camera just it takes a different form of skills to get the perfect shot.

Feedback

You just have to be patient and wait for the right moment. It helps if you can be in the moment with the subject.
