I took the photo at the back of our yard. Our tool shack burned down the day before.Time
I took it early morning on a summers day in February. (I'm from south africa) Took it around 8amLighting
It was early morning. Took the photo at the golden hour in the morning. I only used natural light.Equipment
I only used my Nikon D3100 with a 18-55mm lens. Nothing else only natural lightInspiration
The day before the was a fire at the back in our yard. While I had mixed emotions about the whole fire. (Long story short my son 4yr got hold of a lighter and set something alight in the toolshack. Thank God he came out because it could be worse.) I just woke up the morning. Stand in front of the window and checked the mess out. Then I saw the morning sun was so beautiful and just took my camera and took some shots. This one was my fave of all.Editing
I edited my photo in Photoshop Cs6: (must I give more info regarding Editing?) I wanted to gave it a bit of a vintage look so I did the following: I open a Create new Layer and go to "Solid Colour" and filled it with dark blue. Set "Exclusion" in blending mode for the layer. Create new layer. Go to "Solid Colour" and set creamy colour. Set "Multiply" in blending mode for layer. Go to "Brightness/contrast and set to Brightness 30 and contrast 50 Go to "Gradient". Change colour to red/orange and the other side white. Set your gradient style and angle. Set "Screen" in blending mode for layer. Create new layer. Go to "Solid colour". Fill it with darkblue (almost black). Delete layer Mask. Clivk "Elliptical Marquee tool" and make an ellipse. Set Feather: 100px. Click right and then "Select Interverse". "Add layer mask" Change opacity as much as you want. Duplicate Background layer and drag it to the top. Set "Soft Light" in blending mide for the layer. Set opacity about 70%. And thats how you can get the effect. In my camera bag
I an amateur and equipment I don't have much. I'm busy building up. For now what I always have by my side is my Nikon D3100, 18-55mm lens, Tripod and my 5 in 1 Reflector.Feedback
The only advise that I can give anyone. It was a early morning golden hour shot. Be open with your emotions. Remember you always have the Idea about what you want and edit it . I took this shot and always had an Idea about what I want to do. Today this is my bestest shot so far in my amateur career. This shot: Aperture: f/7.1 ISO: 400 Exposure: 10/800
