These proud baobabs lining the road to Morondava in Madagascar are all that's left of a once mighty forest, cut down to make way for rice paddies. It is ironic that this icon of Madagascar, known as Avenue of the Baobabs, is a result of the tragic deforrestation of this beautiful island.

Imagine how long it took for them to grow. Conservation is so critical and usually by the time a country is sufficiently sophisticated to understand the damage has been done. I was in a sand forest in South African a week ago. There is not too much left, but it is under protection. The breeding rate of elephants in the reserve has been curbed by the use of contraception to enable the forest to survive. There has to be a balance. The forest and the elephants are fenced, hence the controlled breeding rate! I would love to more of your images please!
