Location
I took this photo at our local park. It was a perfect moment between father and daughter and needed to be captured forever.Time
I took this picture late in the day around four or five in the afternoon. The sun can be brutal at certain times during the day and when it reflects off the water it's even worse but I had a perfect opportunity at this particular moment.Lighting
This was one of those times where I just got lucky with the lighting. It was taken outside of course so direct sunlight could have been an issue but waiting until later in the afternoon when the light wasn't so harsh was the best option.Equipment
I shot this with an old Samsung point and shoot. No flash was needed since it was taken outside at a park. I would have loved to have had a tripod but didn't at that particular time. I just crouched down and tried to be as still as possible when taking the shot. I also had to be very quiet in order to not spoil the intimate moment between them.Inspiration
At the time I took this photo, I was snapping at anything and everything since photography was completely alien to me. I looked over and noticed my husband and daughter sitting on this bench quietly together sharing a moment just between the two of them.Editing
I did do some post-processing to the picture. The photo was taken at a park so there was a lot going on and an array of colors everywhere so I changed the image to black and white. I then wanted the photo to center more on the special moment between my husband and daughter so I faded out more of the background. This way a viewers eyes would focus on the two individuals. In my camera bag
Most all the time, I have my point and shoot camera on me. Its convenient and quick to pull out when I spot a special moment or something that catches my eye at that particular time.Feedback
Make sure you have a camera with you at all times even if it's your phone. Since this was taken outside direct sunlight can be a huge issue so wait till later in the day or wake up early and see what you can catch at first light. In this particular picture the moment was being shared with just the two individuals so I had to be silent and not cause any distractions.
