Location
This bridge is actually a footbridge over the Ipswich River in Ipswich Massachusetts. As I was walking over it, I noticed how still the river was with tremendous reflections and a touch of fog. I walked down to the rivers edge to get a closer look at the river -- mainly focusing downriver. When I turned and looked towards the bridge, I noticed this incredible scene with the bridge reflected and knew right away I had to grab this shot! Amazing!Time
I came to this trail early in the morning, just after sunrise just for a walk with the dogs, not really intending to take any pictures. Of course I always bring my camera on walks because you never know what you will get! I was sure glad I brought it even without my tripod, I still think this shot came out fine!Lighting
I think the early morning light with a touch of fog over the water brings such mystery and really added to this image. The scene all came together perfectly without much manipulation!Equipment
I shot this on my Sony Alplha A65 SLT with my kit lens 18-55mm at 18mm.. No tripod and nothing fancy. I feel lucky to have come across this scene.Inspiration
This photo was completely unexpected as I never went out intending to take photos, just out walking the dogs. I was glad to have had my camera on me when I came across this peaceful scenery.Editing
I used my Photomatix HDR software to bring out the detail and color in this photo. I then brought the image into Photoshop to enhance the fog, sharpen the image and touch up the highlights. In my camera bag
When I do go out intending to take photos, I bring my bag and tripod with me. I have an 18mm Prime lens in that bag and my 75-200 2.8 telephoto lens for animal shots as well as my nifty fifty. I usually carry some graduated filters as well.Feedback
I always tell people to really look around and stand or kneel in weird unusual places near your scene because you never know what kind of scene will explode in front of you from a different perspective. I was kneeling at an uncomfortable angle, sort of balancing on a tree root trying not to fall in the river to see this scene, but it was worth it.
