I was backpacking through Mexico when I took this photo. San Jose del Pacifico, is a small town nestled into the the mountains of Oaxaca province, on the way from Oaxaca City to Puerto Escondido.
There was a bench that I would sit on, outside the cabin hostel, that overlooked the valley below. I was so high up that you can actually see the tiny reflection of the ocean far in the distance.

Buried far beneath the canvas of clouds lies the thick heat and lush green of the rain forest below. Behind you are the 45 degree angles of cobblestone "callejos" alleyways, leading into a densely forested and sparsely town.
I meant only to stay for a few days, but couldn't leave the serenity, even though i knew the surf was less than four hours away. It was the most peaceful moment of all my travels so far...

Thank you! It's an older photo, but I was really high up... about 3000 meters in a little town called San Jose Del Pacifico in the mountains in Oaxaca.
