Thankyou Laurie. I was about 4 or 5 metres away and was at max zoom of 300mm. Then I cropped severely.

Location
This photo of a Brush Wattlebird was taken at Mooloolaba in Queensland, Australia.Time
It was early morning, and I could hear Brush Wattlebirds and Blue-faced Honeyeaters feasting on the flowering grevilleas out in the garden. This one conveniently posed for me on the roof guttering.Lighting
As it was quite early in the morning, there was ample sunlight to which the bird was facing.Equipment
I took this hand-held with my Nikon D7100 using an AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens.Inspiration
I love our native birds and take every opportunity to photograph them.Editing
I did crop and sharpen this pic.In my camera bag
I have very basic equipment so it is always the Nikon D7100 with the AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm 1:3.5-5.6G ED lens.Feedback
There's a lot of luck involved but the more you're out there doing it, the luckier you get!
