Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at Cheekwood Botanical Park in Nashville Tennessee

Time

Shooting in morning light on a partially sunny day.

Lighting

Since it was partially sunny the butterfly was not in direct light and actually the light was somewhat diffused. Shot with available light.

Equipment

Canon 10D, F5.6, ISO200, a 100-400 Canon ISL lens on a tripod.

Inspiration

One of my favorite things to photograph are butterflies and flowers. This was a shot that I patiently waited to get.

Editing

No post processing

In my camera bag

I carry all Canon Equipment. Now days I carry a 5D, 50D, 100-400 ISL,17-40 L, 50mm 1.4, 28-135 IS, 430EX and 530EX flash, cable release, circular polarizing filters, and a set of defusers. I also carry a Bogen Wilderness Tripod or a Bogen Monopod on all outings.

Feedback

Lighting and Patience make all the difference. I also suggest shooting a shallow depth of field to make the subject stand out.
