Location
I took this photograph during a bird of prey presentation at the Lake District Wildlife Park. I was there to accompany many members of family for the event of my Nephew's very first birthday, which makes the image extra special to me; personally, this image holds and reminds me of some very special memories, like a small piece of jigsaw to a large mental timeline of treasured moments. I particularly love the eye contact and the elegance of the wings almost touching, like a ballet dancer in first position; usually images of birds involve their full wing span.Time
This is my favorite photograph I have ever taken as I just simply cannot get enough of animals and wildlife. I felt very lucky to have captured this moment at approximately midday as I feel, as the photographer, I shared a special connection for the split second this beautiful European Eagle Owl made eye contact. I truly believe that the eyes are the windows to the soul and when looking at this image, I can almost feel the Owl's own emotions at the moment I captured it.Lighting
I wanted this photograph to look as natural as possible and so I relied completely on natural light, no flash was involved.Equipment
I held my EOS 400D Canon, with a sigma lens attached, in my hands on the action/sports setting and took multiple shots of this beautiful bird. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
I never miss an opportunity to capture the beauty of nature, so when I heard where my family and I were going there was no chance of me leaving the camera behind!Editing
Nothing, I merely uploaded my photographs onto my laptop and added it to view bug, simple. In my camera bag
My EOS 400D Canon, always with the sigma lens attached in my camera case; spare batteries in the side pockets.Feedback
Never miss an opportunity, you never know when each day may surprise you. Take your camera everywhere and make sure all your batteries are fully charged as I'd always recommend taking far more images than you think you need to get that perfect shot.
