Location
In Monument Valley, ArizonaTime
It was taken late in the day at about 6:30. The best time of course is when the sun is low in the sky creating long shadows to enhance the subject.Lighting
The lighting was great that afternoon as it was approaching sunset.Equipment
I used a Nikon D90 with my Tokina 11-16mm Pro FX lens and Monfrotto triprod.Inspiration
The roots of the tree just drew my eyes up to the "mittens" in the background.Editing
I did some touching up of the blacks and contrast in Lightroom. In my camera bag
Along with my Nikon, I always take my Tokina wide angle lens along with my Nikon 80-200mm, and a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens. And, of course a tripod.Feedback
Concentrate on composition. If possible always have a foreground focal point that will draw your eyes into the rest of the photo.
