Manzanar War Relocation Center in California's Owens Valley in the eastern Sierra Nevadas, was one of ten camps where Japanese American citizens and resident Japanese aliens were interned during World War II.

This was 9th street, a road that looks like it might lead to the Sierra Nevadas in the distance and freedom, but in reality, a few hundred yards from here the road takes a sharp left as you find yourself at western edge of the perimeter and a barbed wire fence between you and the mountains.
