This photo was taken at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens.Time
It was probably early afternoon.Lighting
Greenhouse lighting is very even, making it easy to shoot any time during the day.Equipment
For this exposure I used my Pentax K7 and my 100 mm Pentax macro lens.Inspiration
I was drawn to these tiny sprigs of flowers growing from a cactus in the corner of the greenhouse. I took several shots of the cactus from all angles. I love this particular shot for the off center focus.Editing
The only post processing I did with this exposure was cropping and resizing as well as I little sharpening.In my camera bag
For shooting days like this one I will carry two lenses and my Pentax K7. I will take my kit lens, the 19 to 55 mm and of course my macro lens. Sometimes I will take a tripod and a cable release. My full arsenal also includes a Tamron mid range zoom, a Pentax 80 to 320 zoom and a 200 mm f2.8 Pentax fixed focal length lens.Feedback
Do not be afraid to focus on something then move the camera to make the focal point seem off balance. Doing this seems to give the photo more depth. On shoots like this I will use manual focus. Aperture priority and a spot focus.
