Really? I had no idea the did this and I lived at the beach for a time. What do they do scrape it off? VOTE!

They use a high power sprayer (like in a car wash). This only happens during periods of draught. Without the natural rains, the salt mist from the ocean builds up on the lines and transformers causing power outages. It happened several times last summer !
