Nice symmetry and depth with a luscious palette. Hanging on any wall this image would promote harmony in the room.

Behind The Lens

Location

One of the last Mexican resorts located far southern region in the Yucatan 1 hour away from Tulum is the White Sands Palladium. This Marble entrance lined with tall column's greeted us with amber glow of a entrancing musical echo of the water gracefully flowing from a pretty stone sculpted fountain to welcome guest to the exotic modern luxurious accommodations

Time

It was the month August approximately 4:00 near the southern most point of Mexico. It was also height of Hurricane season, torrential rains, quick forming volatile thunderous lightening storms & swift, colorful cloud formations with sudden rays of sunlight & stillness.

Lighting

The voluminous marble features, floors, some walls & pathways enhanced by bold colors choices that were from natural materials & paint , along with Yucatan location with surrounding jungle flora & canopy offered contouring shading from intense sunlight bouncing off of many water features help created a slight glowing effect.

Equipment

Rebel canon EOS- no flash or special lens or tripod. Image had no enhancement. It's natural.

Inspiration

The hypnotic echo of stone water fountain with amber colors reflecting of the Marble creating a glow, along with the illusion of the many columns & each entry way creating almost a layered dimensional framing of the carved stone water fountain in the center creating a stillness & tranquility of architectural regal simplicity like a doorway to maybe another world, mystery or time.

Editing

No, I had just begun learning about photography so I didn't have enough knowledge to use software or filters at the time. Only enhancement I would do is look at my histogram to either lightening an image or darken or sharpen however this photo didn't need any help. I thought photo should be as natural as I saw it & captured my vision & impressions so I believe & felt stood well on it's own to convey & captured the moment.

In my camera bag

tripod, 75-300 mm lens, charger, extra batteries, lens filters, sheath/dusting cloth, lens spray, sandwich baggies ( rain/water protection), flash, extra old back-up cannon camera

Feedback

look for uniqueness, don't be afraid to experiment or "break or push/test the usual rules/guidelines of photography, Find what moves or speaks to you, look for a story, it doesn't always have to factual or rational story. It can be as I saw the "Fountain Echo" a start of a potential story or movie in your head of enter a doorway to another dimension with mystery. Also search & look a little closer how another subject can sometimes naturally enhance your main subject- such as the marble reflecting a glow highlighting the amber-gold aura. Also If see hypothetically a buffalo then several other photographer's stop, encroach & pull out their $10,000 mega lens, along with other photographers crowding in my find of a buffalo then I'll just move on to go off the beaten path to a photo no one else has discovered or that's unusual. Another seek out shots that are not common, usual or may tend to be overlooked. most importantly, always have your camera on you when you go because timing can be gold. A plethora of numerous interesting moments, sights & events can occur beyond the typically advised guideline of photography prime hours of morning/dawn & evening/dusk. Have fun, be original, challenge norms & shoot your point of view of what moves you with passion.
