Location
On the edge & border of the Rocky Mountain National Park, High up in the Mountain sits a quaint, small town with dirt roads call Grandby & Grand Lake in Colorado. Grand Lake is Colorado's largest Natural lake. The charming small town is located right on the Lake which is where this photo was taken.Time
This is morning around 9 Am. The very beginning of fall after the late summer crowd of tourists have left the town.Lighting
Consider the reflection off of water as a natural reflector that's used in professional photography. Also think about the season with the various colors enhancing or absorbing Colors within the shot. The gold/yellow hues break's up the blend of the blues & greens but highlights the image, time of day & adds a crispness & uplifting yet a sereneness to the ambiance.Equipment
Canon REBEL Xti 400D Lens: EF-S18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ll Used the natural lighting so no flashInspiration
There was a quality of unintentional meditation to the moment, an appreciation of the quiet after the rowdiness of summer as the 1st locals venture out to enjoy & share leisure time of their hometown... An easily overlooked moment of bonding with quiet & viewing 2 people's idea of heaven through floating the morning away & fishing. It was an unspoiled moment of tranquility & stillness yet an appreciation of the change of season's & simplicity...Like walking into a museum quality painting you want to keep forever & share with others.Editing
No, not really... The image spoke for itself...Didn't need anything really. In my camera bag
My Canon rebel, tripod, 2 lenses & cleaning kit.Feedback
Patience! Be willing to consider all angles. This was a little tricky since I was on a boat in the middle of the lake myself so I had to sit awhile for the waters to calm & wait for the canoe to float to the right spot. I took photo's of fishermen at various distances & angles...from even to ledge of the boat to precariously standing & waiting for the boat to stop rocking...The 8 AM -11Am sun helped with lighting but I had to wait for the reflection on the water to hit just right but also make sure it was behind me but without my own shadow being cast so it was more angled.
