It was approximately 30 minutes before sundown, I took my Grandson out for a photo excursion because he had a brand new digital camera. The pier is only a few miles from his home and the sky looked like an ideal time to shoot the pier.Lighting
Several photos were taken in the one hour twilight time period, this one shows local fishermen trying for that last catch before fishing time concludes for the day. In California fishing begins 1 hour before sunrise and closes at 1 hour after sundown. Looking closely you can see Sandpipers catching their dinner meal. Looking between the pilings you can see Santa Cruz and Anacapa Islands, members of the Channel Islands.Equipment
Throughout this shooting session I used a Canon EOS 1000D camera, the 18 - 70mm lens, a tripod, shutter release cable, and bracketed exposures for inclusion in HDR processing.Inspiration

Post Processing included merging three exposures into a HDR processing application, balancing the exposure to re-capture the mood of the scene at the moment the eyes saw the scene. Cropping to a standard size for printing, and retaining the original resolution from the camera.In my camera bag
