Location
I went to DC with friends for a hangout. I took this when I was exiting the Franklin D. Roosevelt memorial.Time
My friends and I decided to go to DC before the sunrise. Apparently, we couldn't make it when the sunrise happened. We were about 1 hour late. the best part was that It was still calm, water in Potomac Tidal Basin was still smooth, the birds were chirping, and people traffic was amazingly very light. Moreover, it was the cherry blossom season.Lighting
This photo was taken in natural light. I took this at 6 am, lighting was perfect in the morning at that time.Equipment
I used Canon 6d with 24mm-105mm F4 lens. I used a tripod by Manfrotto.Inspiration
I love nature. When the cherry blossom season come, Tidal Basin becomes the most beautiful place in DC. I couldn't resist on not taking the photo.Editing
In most cases, you do have to capture more than one photo. But, in this case, I only took one image. I was lucky at the time I took this picture. I do call it Picture Perfect. In my camera bag
I always pack my Canon 6d, 24-105mm lens F4, 24-300mm lens F3.5-5.6, tripod, and 50mm F1.4 (just in case I want to take pictures of the details).Feedback
Usually, lighting is the big point in taking a landscape photo. In my case, it was early in the morning at around 6:30 or 7am. That time of the day, the sun is just settling down. So, it's perfect timing. But, if you decide to go in the afternoon, you will have trouble with highlights due to harsh sunlight. So, deciding on the time when you want to take your photo is very useful.
