Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken right outside my home in Golden Valley, AZ. The moon was so bright that night and after I got it downloaded I was surprised to see that I caught a a flock of geese :)

Time

This was actually taken about 10 PM. I happened to look out and saw how bright it was outside, so I wandered out and thought, "You better go get that camera!" I stood right out by my car in the front yard and hand held and all, snapped about 30 shots. This one of course was may favorite, of course.

Lighting

I wanted this to really show the moon in all it's glory. The only lighting I used was the moon itself. I believed it basically said all it needed to say

Equipment

I used my Canon Rebel t3i with my 55-250mm lens. No other equipment was used

Inspiration

I have always loved nature. Shooting the moon has always challenged me, to get it just right. I have always loved the saying, "The man in the moon" and trying to capture the craters and grooves, to make it seem like you could touch it, fascinates me

Editing

The only post- processing that this shot needed was a little brightness and a little sharpening

In my camera bag

Normally I only take my camera, battery charger and two lenses, for everyday. If I am specifically going on a trip or shoot, I take about 10 lens filters and my tripod

Feedback

Don't give up! Shooting the moon takes time, but it's SO worth it! I feel the same way about Lightening <3
